Senior Karmen Cody and freshman Payton Temple were named Illinois High School Association All-State wrestlers. Cody and Temple participated at the IHSA Girls Wrestling State Meet this past weekend in Bloomington. This is the third year that the IHSA has recognized girls wrestling with a state wrestling tournament.
Karmen finished her career with a sixth place in the 190-pound weight class. Karmen opened the meet with two falls on Friday. She dropped her matches on Saturday, but she had already secured no worse than a sixth-place finish. Karmen finished the season with a 15-5 record. It was her first appearance at the IHSA State Girls Wrestling Meet.
Payton also finished in sixth in the 155-pound weight class. She had two falls on Friday, before dropping her matches on Saturday. By reaching the semifinal, Payton secured at least a sixth-place finish. Payton wrapped up her first freshman year with an 8-7 mark. Payton was the only freshman in her weight class.
