Payton Temple

Central High School will be represented at next weekend’s Illinois High School Association Girls Wrestling State Meet. Wrestling will take place at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington and begin on Friday, February 28. This is the fourth year that the IHSA has recognized girls wrestling with a state wrestling tournament.

Sophomore Payton Temple punched her ticket to the state meet by winning the 190-pound class at the IHSA Sectional Meet in Highland. Payton fourth-place finish at the IHSA Sectional Meet. Payton is 24-1 on the season and will face Kylie Eilken from Rockford Jefferson in the first round. Last year, Payton captured sixth to earn all-state honors.

Payton represents the first ever two-time state-qualifying girl wrestler from Central.
